狗中暑了，送醫前可以先做什麼？

移到陰涼處，用常溫水（不是冰水）淋濕全身，開風扇或開窗吹風，然後立刻送醫。不要泡冰水、不要用濕毛巾裹住悶著、也不要等體溫「正常」才出發。中暑會造成多器官衰竭與凝血異常，送醫途中的降溫決定存活。熱天或運動後喘不停、體溫高、倒下、嘔吐或血便、抽搐，都是中暑的表現。

犬が熱中症になりました。受診の前に何ができますか？ — 日陰に移し、常温の水（氷水ではありません）で全身を濡らし、扇風機や窓を開けて風を当て、そのうえでただちに受診してください。氷水につけない、濡れタオルで包んでこもらせない、体温が「正常」になるのを待って出発しない、この3つは避けてください。熱中症は多臓器不全と凝固異常を起こし、搬送中の冷却が生死を分けます。暑い日や運動後にあえぎが止まらない、体温が高い、倒れる、嘔吐または血便、けいれんは、いずれも熱中症の現れ方です。

My dog has heatstroke — what can I do before we reach the clinic? — Move the dog into the shade, wet the whole body with room-temperature water (not iced water), use a fan or an open window for airflow, then go to the clinic immediately. Do not immerse the dog in ice water, do not wrap it up in wet towels, and do not wait for the temperature to look "normal" before leaving. Heatstroke causes multi-organ failure and coagulation abnormalities, and the cooling done on the way decides survival. Endless panting on a hot day or after exercise, a high temperature, collapse, vomiting or bloody stool, and seizures are all presentations of heatstroke.

My dog's abdomen is distended and it keeps retching without bringing anything up — what is going on? — This may be gastric dilatation-volvulus, which is common in large deep-chested dogs just after a meal or after strenuous activity, and the classic combination is a distended abdomen, retching that brings nothing up, heavy drooling, and restless pacing. The twist cuts off blood flow, the stomach wall becomes necrotic and shock follows, progressing within minutes. Leave immediately and call the clinic on the way so they can prepare; do not give water, do not press on the abdomen, and do not try to "help the dog burp".

狗吞了不該吃的東西，要不要先催吐？

Phone the primary clinic, a 24-hour emergency hospital or a poison information contact first, and bring the original packaging, note the time and the estimated amount, and keep a sample of any vomit. With corrosive substances, oily substances, a dog that is already seizuring, and flat-faced dogs, inducing vomiting causes bigger problems. When you set off, take the packaging, the pill box, photos of the plant and the vomit with you.
